Learn about how we use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with the best experience

Last Updated: October 15, 2025

Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Teeachie uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our platform. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies: Temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies: Remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them
  • First-party cookies: Set by the website you're visiting
  • Third-party cookies: Set by external services (we do not use these)

Cookies We Use

Good News: Teeachie uses only essential cookies that are strictly necessary for the platform to function. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

Essential Data Storage (Strictly Necessary)

These technologies are essential for the platform to work properly. Without them, services you have requested cannot be provided. We do not need your consent to use these technologies.

Note: Most of the items below use browser localStorage or sessionStorage, which are technically not "cookies" but serve similar essential functions for authentication and preferences.

Storage Name Type Purpose Duration
supabase.auth.token localStorage Maintains your login session and authenticates your requests Until you log out
user_preferences localStorage Stores your timezone and display preferences Until cleared
session_data sessionStorage Maintains session state and security Until you close the browser tab

Cookies We Do NOT Use

To respect your privacy, we have made the conscious decision NOT to use the following types of cookies:

Analytics Cookies

We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tools to track your behavior on our platform.

Advertising Cookies

We do not use any advertising networks or display targeted ads.

Third-Party Tracking Cookies

We do not allow third parties to place tracking cookies on our platform.

Social Media Cookies

We do not use social media pixels or tracking from platforms like Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn.

Marketing Cookies

We do not use cookies for marketing purposes or to create user profiles for advertising.

Third-Party Services

While we minimize third-party cookies, our payment processor operates independently and may set their own cookies when you interact with their payment interface:

Payment Processor

When you make a payment, our payment processor may set cookies to securely process your transaction and prevent fraud. These cookies are set by the payment processor's interface and are subject to their own cookie practices. We do not control these cookies.

The payment processor's cookies are only active during the payment process and are necessary for secure transaction processing. For details on the payment processor's cookie usage, please refer to their privacy policy.

Managing Cookies

Browser Settings

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • See what cookies are stored and delete them individually
  • Block third-party cookies
  • Block all cookies from specific websites
  • Block all cookies from being set
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser

How to Manage Cookies in Different Browsers

Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data

Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

Important: If you block or delete our essential cookies, you will not be able to use the Teeachie platform, as these cookies are necessary for authentication and basic functionality.

Local Storage and Similar Technologies

Important Note: localStorage and sessionStorage are not cookies. They are separate browser storage mechanisms. While this document is titled "Cookie Policy" for simplicity and user familiarity, we want to be transparent that most of our data storage uses these technologies rather than traditional HTTP cookies.

In addition to (or instead of) traditional cookies, we primarily use the following browser storage technologies:

Local Storage (localStorage)

Used to store your authentication token and user preferences locally on your device. This helps the platform load faster and maintain your session.

Key Difference from Cookies: localStorage data is never sent to the server automatically. It remains on your device and is only accessed by JavaScript code running in your browser. Data persists until explicitly cleared.

Session Storage (sessionStorage)

Temporarily stores data during your browsing session. This data is deleted when you close your browser tab.

Key Difference from Cookies: Like localStorage, sessionStorage data stays on your device and is never sent to the server. It's more temporary than localStorage and is automatically cleared when you close the tab or window.

These technologies serve the same essential purpose as cookies (authentication, preferences) and are necessary for the platform to function properly. They are subject to the same legal basis (legitimate interest and contract performance) as our essential cookies.
