Privacy boundaries

What students can see about each other

In group settings, students can see:

  • ✅ Classmate names
  • ✅ Classmate avatars
  • ❌ Classmate contact info
  • ❌ Classmate payments
  • ❌ Classmate homework

What students can see about you

Students can see:

  • ✅ Your name and avatar
  • ✅ Your availability (for self-scheduling)
  • ✅ Class materials you share
  • ❌ Your notes about them
  • ❌ Other students’ profiles
  • ❌ Your revenue data

Teacher notes are private

One important privacy feature:

Teacher notes are 100% private. When you write notes about a student or group, they never see them. This lets you:

  • Track progress candidly
  • Note areas to work on
  • Record teaching strategies
  • Keep personal observations

Account creation

Teachers

  • Sign up directly on Teeachie
  • Teacher accounts are the default registration type
  • Set up profile and start adding students

Students

  • Invited by their teacher
  • Receive an invitation link from their teacher
  • Create account through invitation link
  • Automatically connected to their teacher

Note: Students cannot sign up independently. They must be invited by a teacher.

Switching roles

Each account has one role. If someone needs both:

  • Use a different email for each account
  • Sign in/out to switch between them
  • Keep activities separate

Common questions

Can a student have multiple teachers?

Yes, a student can accept invitations from multiple teachers. Each teacher-student connection is independent.

Can I see my students’ other teachers?

No. You only see your relationship with each student. Their other connections are private.

Can students communicate with each other?

Students can’t start private DMs with classmates. They can only participate in group threads tied to your groups, where you’re also a participant.

What happens when I archive a student?

Archived students can still access their past classes and materials but won’t appear in your active lists.

Best practices

For teachers

  • Use notes for sensitive observations
  • Share materials on class pages, not via messaging
  • Keep professional boundaries in communications

When explaining to students

  • Clarify what they can and cannot do
  • Explain self-scheduling rules if enabled
  • Set expectations for response times
